Design and the Swagger Group Agency
In the information age, anyone can be a journalist, a photographer a painter or even a designer. Designing resources are everywhere and they are free and available to any amateur who wants to give it a try. So what distinguishes the professionals from the others? Its is out creativity. The power of creative ideas means that people remember and appreciate your design...to say the least.
Creativity does not come from sitting in front of a computer all day long; instead, it stems from a hobby, a sport, the world around you, a tour, a relationship...from the things you have fun with.
Our creativity comes from various sources and most of them aren't related to design. Our design sprouts from years of study in graphic design, but also from mechanical engineering, archeology, anthropology and rare whiskies.
Layout concerns the placement of text and image elements within a design. How these elements are positioned, both in relation to one another and within the overall design scheme, will affect how the content is viewed and received by the readers, as well as their emotional reaction towards it.
Basis, Advanced & Experimental:
Fundamental layout principles and guidelines for placed elements within a design, use of different grids as well as our special anatomy of a page.
Different treatments can produce a variety of results for text- or image-heavy designs
We explore all options in the relationship between the grid and the placement of text and images
Form and Function:
A project will affect layout decisions and variations as well as different format and finishing options.
Layout In Use:
Different types of content will have different layout and structuring requirements. Consideration such as orientation and juxtaposing are analyzed
Understanding your visitors
At the Swagger Group we love paper. We love paper and letterpress as well. However, paper overall have variations in color, feel and weight. Gloss stock will feel lighter than say a mat stock as its finer surface is more compact. Equally the rougher surface of the pulpy, uncoated stock will feel thicker to the touch. Subtle differences can be found between the matt and gloss stocks - gloss is considered better suited to full-colored reproduction of images, but its shine can interfere with the readability of text. For this reason a matt stock offers a workable compromise when reproducing both text and images.
Designers, fine artists and photographers often rely on differences in the relative values of the colors in their layouts and images to direct attention and establish mood. Strong contrasts tend to attract notice and generate energy. Low levels of contrast are often employed among backdrop elements and as a means of quieting a composition's visual impact.
There's a saying among painters,
"A color can't be right it its value is wrong."Unknown
